Leslie was a dear friend since the 1960s and a wonderful traveling companion on four continents. We last met in Yosemite, a frequent destination and special place where her presence will always be felt.
Dearest Leslie "Rea-diant" Rose! Words cannot suffice for describe our happy memories of travels shared over more than a half-century -- beginning in Minnesota 's Boundary Waters, then California's Sierras, and onward through Nepal, Chile, Peru, Spain, Scotland, Orkneys, Shetland ... not to forget the Jotunheim as well as multiple visits here in Den Haag! Tack för allt!
Where to start? In 1950s Minneapolis, Walt met Larry as a 6-year-old Cub Scout, and Elizabeth's family knew all five Roses (Jim, Velva, Marilyn, Larry, and Jerry) from age 7. Once Leslie entered the picture, she too became an honorary member of the Bachman and Nussbaum families. Though divided by an ocean, we kept in touch with L&L by exchanging postcards from trips and meeting up in Seattle, Oslo, Venice, New York.... wherever our paths crossed. We were so fortunate to have known this warm, caring, bright, interesting, generous couple. They've left an unfillable hole in our lives and hearts.
Growing up in Minnesota we always enjoyed time with "Larry and Les" when they came to visit our parents, their lifelong friends. As a parent now myself I enjoyed the opportunity to introduce my kids to them during a visit to Oslo in 2014. We all treasure our memory of both of these wonderful people and will miss them dearly.
I loved having godparents who were both born in the US but made their life home in beautiful Norway. Larry and Leslie were thoughtful correspondents, and I loved seeing them in New York City in the early 2010s after I moved here. They were generous, loving, upbeat, curious people, and I miss them.
We count Leslie and one of our all-time favorite people. She brightened our lives and made the world a better place. We miss her.
Skjønne, fine Leslie. Alltid godt å møte henne. .
Vi kondolerer og takker for bekjentskapet.
Vi har fine minner fra mer enn 50 års festlige samvær
I will always remember Leslie as an exceptionally fine colleague at the University of Oslo in the 1990ies when I was new to Norway and she welcomed me with warmth and kindness.
