Eg føler meg så heldig som fekk bli kjent med Parvin og ha henne i slekta. Ho lyste opp alle settingar eg møtte henne i. For ei unik, fargerik, omsorgsfull og interessant dame. Og for ein bauta for familien. Varme tankar til dei næraste. ️
I will always smile when I think of the generous, beautiful, warm and gregarious Parvin. Deepest condolences to the family at this incredibly sad time <3
I had the pleasure of being Parvin's little sister. I loved her and loved to spend time with her when we were growing up and when we were in England and in Missouri.
When she was a teenager, Parvin was always very brave and adventurous. She loved skating and bicycle riding and I always marveled at how good she was. My father always told us that being a girl shouldnt stop us from getting a higher education and Parvin was influenced by our older brother Feridoun, who went to pharmacy school in Philadelphia. When Parvin decided that she wanted to go to medical school, our father supported her. She inspired me to go into medicine and she showed me that being a woman would not stop me from accomplishing my professional goals.
We had six aunts and two uncles. When Parvin went to study medicine, they told my father that she should come home to Iran and that she should get married and have children and that a woman does not need to be a doctor. My father wanted to keep them appeased and told them that he would write to tell her to come home soon but seven years later, Parvin was a doctor. Parvin followed her dreams regardless of what people thought.
During medical school, she traveled to Israel by ship and met Bjudna. They kept in touch through writing letters. When Parvin was done with medical school, she went back to Iran. Our father advised her to stay in Iran and practice medicine and he said he would help her financially. But Parvin had bigger plans to study pediatrics in Missouri. Bjudna also went to study nutrition in Missouri and I was so happy to celebrate her wedding with Bjudna in Missouri. Parvin was a skilled tailor and knitter. She even sewed her own wedding dress.
I have so many wonderful memories from when she was in St. Louis, Missouri studying pediatric residency. Although both she and Bjudna had a good job in Missouri, they decided to go back to Norway to be close to her family in Iran. Unfortunately, due to the revolution in Iran, almost all of her family moved to the U.S. and by that time, she and Bjudna had already established their lives and careers in Norway and so they stayed there.
In 1984, Parvin and Bjudna travelled to San Francisco with all four children so that Parvin could do a one year fellowship in pediatric allergy. This is how committed she was to her profession.
Parvins greatest source of pride was building a life and a family with Bjudna. She loved her family very much and she was so proud of all of her children, her son-in-laws, her daughter-in-law and loved spending time with her grandchildren. One time she was in an open zoo and Shahin saw an ostrich egg and he said he wanted it so she stopped the car and got out of the car and got the ostrich egg for him so he would stop crying. She loved celebrating joyous occasions and always flew out to see us in LA for wedding, bar mitzvahs and other joyous events.
Vi takker for godt naboskap i 45 år.
