Christian was one of the best colleagues I had. In the beginning it felt like having a kind, close to all-knowing elder brother working with me. Who happend to be my boss. I am still thinking of Christian very regularly.
Sad to read this. He was my friend when we started studying geology in 1984. Many great memories will remain, he will never be forgotten
It´s so sad to hear that he passed away. Christian was a fellow student at the university in Mainz. I knew him from 1984 to 1986 and had no contact with him afterwards. But even after so many years I remember him clearly as if only months have passed since.
Wishing his family peace and joy.
Forever in our hearts...
Forever in our hearts ️
Thanks for participation, good and kind words, beautiful flowers and amazing music for our beloved father and husbands funeral.
Forever grateful ️
Linus, Lucas and Ellen️

Christian has gone can't believe it
Remember when he started guitar playing. He won that instrument at a competition with a fabulous record sleeve of Kraftwerk's Robot-song he drawed himself.
My thoughts & best wishes to his family.
I'll never forget you, Christian.
Rest in peace my love️, miss you so much....
A colleague, friend and skilled professional has passed away.
Christian raised his head above the rest of us in so many ways. His over 1.90 height, always with a smile on top is perhaps what we all remember the most But Christian's contribution to the professional community in Equinor and his qualities as a person, friend, colleague and leader is what has left the deepest mark.
Christian was born and raised in Germany and received a doctorate in geology from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and started his career in exploration at Hydro in Oslo in 1996.
It became clear early on that Christian had a unique ability to use his deep professional competence to develop new concepts and tools. Combined with his communication skills, he has left deep traces in our way of working in exploration. The concepts and tools he developed are actively used today in our international exploration activity. He has made a strong contribution to the professional environment around modeling of petroleum systems in Equinor and in Norway.
Christian was confident, calm and balanced, at the same time curious and humble. He never avoided a good technical discussion but managed this without coming in conflict with others. His sense of humor, warmth and inclusive style naturally attracted people around him and he became a role model. During professional meetings internally and externally, there were always many who wanted to talk to and learn from Christian.
He took these qualities with him into his leadership roles, in exploration both in Norway and internationally. First in Stavanger and later in Indonesia and Canada where he has been responsible for safe implementation of some of our most demanding drilling operations while building lasting relationships across cultures and generations. Christians leadership style involved a big presence and ability to listen, not only to technical arguments, but also to the people around him. He had the ability to develop a strong team and corporate affiliation even though he was far away from the head office.
Christian and Mie's homes abroad were always open for visiting colleagues.
Christian demanded a lot of himself and had great execution ability. His renovation of a sailboat in Stavanger took a long time because he always made the same high demands on himself privately as at work. He never compromised with what he thought was right.
Our warm thoughts and sympathy go to Mie, the children and the family in Germany. We will always be there for you; the way Christian was in our lives.
On behalf of good friends and colleagues at Equinor who will miss him dearly.
A wonderful colleague in Stavanger and Calgary, you will be missed.
Hvil i fred, kjære Christian.
Kjære Mie og gutta,
Sender dere de varmeste tanker og medfølelse.

We studied together with Christian in Mainz and we fondly remember that time we spent with him together. He was a dear, helpful and humorous friend and it was an honor to know him.

Hvil i fred <3
Dearest Ellen, it has been an honor to get to know you, Christian and the boys. When you and Christian moved to Calgary you welcomed us into your home with open arms. Christian was always such a kind and caring man and such a joy to be around. We will miss him and your family. Sending our love to you Ellen, Lucas and Linus. Bob and Gail Muir.
It was a shock to hear of Christian's recent passing. I have known Christian from my earlier Petro-Canada days and more recently in Jakarta through the exploration managers group and IPA. I have always known him to be a talented professional with a genuine and engaging personality.
Especially thinking of Ellen Marie and your two sons Lucas and Linus during this most difficult time.
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Christian's passing. Christian will be remembered as a kind and humble man with a beautiful smile.
My deepest condolences to Christian's beautiful family.
Rest in peace Christian
The news that Christian passed away, came as a huge shock to me. It is too hard to imagine
We met each other in 2013 when our families both started a new life in Jakarta. Mie and I got instantly friends, being soulmates. Numerous diners and trips followed where we got to know Christian as a kind, humble man who was interested in the world around him. Labuan Bajo is one of my finest memories together, where Christian and I discovered the world underwater for the first time. Diving became one of his passions.
Mie, Lucas, Linus and Andreas, my thouhgts are with you, You will need all the strength and support without your man and father in your lives. We will be there for you.
Gone too soon Christian!
Your smile and kindness are infectious and I have so many good memories working with you. I still remember the lovely invitation to your beautiful home in Jakarta enjoying a wonderful Indonesian dinner made by you and your boys..
Our home Hi-Fi system was bought from your son Andreas through your great recommendation! Your memories will live on in the the sound and music In our house!
You will be deeply missed and our deepest condolences to the family.
So sad... Christian always had a smile on his face and it was always nice to talk to him... My deepest condolences
To a good man who was fun to be with, who always showed up when there was a need and whom we came to cherish as a very good friend during our time together in Indonesia.
You will be remembered.
Our thoughts are with the family.
Loosing Christian is incredibly heartbreaking. I first met Christian in 1991 at the Institute for Geology, UiO, and we instantly became friends. Through our student days we met mostly in Oslo, but also in Aachen, England and Colorado. Elisabeth and I were so happy when he moved to Oslo in 1996 to start a new career. He made adventures out of every days, and he created so many good memories. Christian was sporty and was eager to go on countless hikes and ski trips. Numerous evenings were spent on different mountaintops with a campfire, good food and each other´s company. Christian was smart, kind, generous, curious, and even tempered. He was a perfect friend. He was my best friend. I will always miss him, his smile and his laughter.
Deepest condolences to Mie, Andreas, Lucas and Linus
So sad.-I have been in shock since I heard about Christians passing. As others have mentioned what a gentle soul.
Christian came into Calgary to work with the Petro Canada/ Norsk Hydro partnership. He taught me about Geochemisry and modelling and I took him around the Calgary Folk Festival that summer. One evening while my back was turned.he changed my phones language to Chinese. We both had a great chuckle as he watched my confusion. Unfortunately with time and life we lost touch but I will always remember those times. I feel like I was blessed to know him.
My heartfelt condolences to his lovely family.

Our deepest condolence to Christian's family.
It saddens us so much that Christian passed away.
Although we lost contact somehow, we rember our fantastic time together in Mainz where we studied geology and palaeontology in the late 1980ies. You were such a wonderful friend, full of life, helpfulness, kindness and humor and our "active" student crowd was so well tuned and had so much fun together. Student time with you belong to the best years of our lifes.
Among many great experiences and moments, we recall with great pleasure Christian's surprise visit at our marriage in the Swabian forest in 1996.
We keep with us our many beautiful memories of Christian.
Martin & Petra
Christian will always be remembered as kind and gentle man who knew how to have fun.
Zwach Family, My prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
Christian is gone and I am very sad.....
I know Christian since 1986, when we were studying geology in Mainz together with Susanne, Petra, Martin, Barbara, Jutta and some others. We were a funny but also successfull group, celebrated Sylvester often together and were very good friends.
Christian was always humorous, charming and inspiring and reliable!
Even after finishing our studies we stayed in contact. I remember very well the wedding of Martin and Petra, our visit in Sandvika and the visit in Berlin together with Mie, Lucas and Linus. He was so proud about his family.
Thank you Christian and rest in peace.
Mie, Lucas and Linus, our thoughts are with you!

It was a shocked news for me but the reality to be accepted as well.
I don't have many words to tell but I would like to say..
Thank you Christian for the lessons and encouraged me always for every chance that came to me when I worked with you.
It has been a great experience working with you in Jakarta.
You will be missed for good.
Selamat Jalan Christian.
thank you for the love, and generosity in your heart for the kids in orphanage Lestari Sayang Anak. So grateful for all you have given us, and Memey. Support for her education, and also the basket. Every time the children, Memey, and I play basketball, we will think of you!
Remembering great times in Oslo in the early 1990s and the "3 countries, 3 beers, 1 hour" tour from Christian's place in Aachen.
Your infectious smile and gentle nature greeted us every time we met. You always welcomed us into your home, whether it was in Jakarta or Calgary, with open arms as though we were family. You have taught us what it means to be humble, generous and compassionate. We wish our time with you in Canada had been longer. However, we will be forever grateful for the time we had sharing delicious meals, good stories and Fløtemysost. Although you are no longer with us, we will forever carry your spirit with us in our hearts.
Jennifer Young
